Metropolitan Youth Orchestras of Central Alabama
With the restoration of St. Paul UMC, the installation of the first phase of their museum and plans to fully embody the church's status as a civil rights monument, MYOCA/Scrollworks made the decision in late spring of 2025 that our organization needed to relocate. We formed a steering committee of teachers, admin staff, board members and parents and began a search for a new location that would allow us space to teach, grow and fulfill our mission. Thanks to a lot of hard work and support from our community, we have found an exciting new location and have just completed the physical move.
Our new location is Brewster Road Community Church in Center Point. Everyone on the steering committee as well as the families that volunteered to help with the move are very excited by this new partnership.
Here are some fun and educational musical activities we are offering at BRCC for fall 2025 and into 2026 as we begin registration for our Spring term. (These are also on our Google calendar below.):
Free Drop-In Lessons & Instrument Petting Zoo
*October 11, 9 am to 1 pm
For ages 8 to 18:
Instruction on violin, cello, guitar, trumpet, trombone, flute, clarinet, recorder and piano.
Bring your own instrument or use one of ours.
Length of lesson will vary depending on demand.
For ages 6 to 18:
Instrument Petting Zoo - Try a variety of instruments from around the world.

Orchestra and Chamber Ensemble Rehearsal
*November 8, 10 am to 12 pm
This will be what teacher Bob Crosby calls a 'soft open' for returning students who were in his Chamber Strings ensemble or in Sara Peacock's Orchestra. We plan to play through some familiar music as well as sight reading some fun and easy holiday pieces.
Ms. Goforth will meet with parents to discuss the format for our Spring 2026 semester, our mission and other goals.
